Volunteers Make Our Program Powerful!

Parents, you’ll be asked to choose at least one volunteer commitment at a special meeting later this school year. Some of our volunteer opportunities:

Pop Can Drive Volunteers

All families participate in two pop can fundraising drives each year—one during Band Camp in August, and one on the Saturday after the Super Bowl. Parent volunteers drive loads of students, sort cans and bottles, and redeem bottles after the drive.

Uniform Volunteers

Parents help with fitting and distributing marching band uniforms in August and concert band uniforms in November. Throughout the year, volunteers sort, wash and mend uniforms. (Note: Not all volunteers need to sew!)

Band Garage Sale

All band families volunteer in some capacity for our biggest annual fundraiser, held at the end of April. Committees include Silent Auction, Merchandising, Cashiers, Facilities, Concessions, Publicity and Bake Sale.

Raffle Fundraiser

A few volunteers coordinate ticket sales, prizes and communication related to our annual cash raffle fundraiser, held in the fall.

Michigan Wind & Percussion Festival

For this event hosted by PNHS Bands each March, parents help register visiting bands, direct groups to performance rooms and prepare dinner for judges.

Transport Crew

Volunteers load and unload instruments, props and uniforms onto and off from our transport vehicles for football games, band competitions and off-site concerts.

Prop Builders

Parents help build and paint props for the marching band show and color guard.

Marching Band Camp Chaperones

Parents are on hand during rehearsal to distribute water and snacks, set-up and clean-up meals, help students with medical or other special needs, serve as a runner for the directors and supervise students as needed.

Marching Band Competition and Football Game Chaperones

Parents help supervise students during morning rehearsal at PNHS, and then ride on the buses with students to competitions and games. They check students on and off busses, supervise students at the competition; oversee snacks, water, and medical kit; and supervise students on bus ride home and during unloading.

Event Volunteers

(Meet & Greet Potluck, Band-O-Rama!, Middle School Band Night, Marching Band Banquet, etc.) Teams of parents plan, organize, set up and clean up special events for students and families throughout the year.
